Fall Roundup: Items I’m Loving

Cute Autumn Style Ideas

Hi everyone! It’s been a while, but I’m back! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks, especially leading up to my trip to Rome. I’m working on a trip recap post and I cannot wait to share it with you all as soon as it’s ready. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite fall items at the moment. If this is something you all like, I’ll try to do these types of post more often.

I love this cape because all you have to do is throw it on over some leggings and, boom, you’ve got a super chic fall outfit in no time. It does shed, so I avoid wearing it with fabrics that pick up fibers easily.

This dress is the best! I was on the fence about purchasing it, but SO happy I did because it’s my go-to this season. It looks great with boots and any fall layer. Seriously, you name it – coat, sweater, cape, cardigan, scarf – this dress is perfect.

I seriously love round frame glasses. I feel like they add an effortlessly chic touch to every outfit – so easy! I’m all about this dark on dark style for winter, too. Use KITTYSHEA15 for 15% off storewide.

How cute are these bows?! Now, they may seem a little bit pricey, but I promise you they’ll become one of your favorite accessories, maybe ever. I bought these in black, gold, and mauve, but I’m already thinking about getting the rest of the colors.

This watch is so gorgeous and sleek that I think they should sell it in the jewelry section and call it a bracelet. This style is my by far my favorite and pairs well with everything, too. You can use KITTYSHEA15 for 15% off this watch, or anything in the store.

Every have a mug so cute you don’t want to hid it away in a cupboard? This mug would be great for the office or as a holiday gift.

My favorite thing to do on cold nights is snuggle up on the couch and watch movies. I’m all about comfort, so my blankets neeeeeeed to be soft and cozy. This faux-fur throw is amazing because it’s not just super cozy, it also dresses up a room perfectly.

This chunky cable knit beanie is so stylish and adorable that I may have worn it in 50 degree weather because I was so excited. Oops 🙂

I’m not sure I can describe exactly how stinkin’ happy I was when I found this cruelty-free camel twill coat! (Seriously, finding good winter wear that’s not made from wool is a challenge!) It’s warm, the color works well for Fall through Spring, and the tailored cut is perfect for work. Long story short, it’s basically the best coat ever.

The Ultimate 2018 Halloween Costume Guide

The Ultimate 2018 Halloween Costume Guide

I know that it’s only September but Halloween is approaching FAST. Because Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays and I low key love coming up with and curating funny/creative ideas, I’ve created this Ultimate 2018 Halloween Costume Guide to help you decide what should dress up as. These ideas range from low cost, low effort to intermediate cost/effort and are mainly focused on current events.

Before we dive in, I’m predicting we’re going to see a LOT of Black Panther and Trump/Russia costumes this year, as well as the usual spill over from last year’s most popular costumes (I see you, Eleven with the Eggos and Harley Quinn). No hate for anyone dressing up in these whatsoever BTW, just know you’ll probably have a few look-a-likes.

Political Costumes Ideas

Pop Culture/In The News Costumes

  • Handmaid’s Tale: I recommend going with a costume set like this one and stay far, far away from any costume that tries to make this sexy. Trust me on this one.
  • Walmart Yodelling Kid: In addition to the best yodel skills this side of the Mississippi, you’ll need jeans, a white collar button down, cowboy boots, and a red bow tie.
  • Grocery Store Joe: Bachelor in Paradise aficionados, this one’s for you! Wear a shirt that says Joe (sharpie it on or utilize one of these handy “hello my name is” stickers) and carry a bag of groceries. – Submitted by Jack Small

Punny Costumes (Not 2018-Specific)

  • Devil Wears Prada: Throw on some devil horns and a Prada shirt and you’re done!
  • Social Butterfly: For this outfit, you can wear whatever you want as a base. Print some large social media icons (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.) and paste, pin, or tape them onto your outfit and add butterfly wings. (These butterfly wings could also be an interesting choice)
  • Nickelback: Glue a bunch of nickels to the back of your shirt (or dress) and call it a day! Note: people will invariably try to take the nickels off you throughout the night, so just know that’s going to happen.
  • Formal Apology: Dress up in your favorite cocktail attire and wear a sign that says “I’m Sorry”
  • Shark Week: You’ll need to convince six friends to dress up in shark costumes with you, but after that it’s smooth sailing. Add a day of the week to each shark costume and you’re set (I recommend using signs or sashes).

Costume Ideas You Shouldn’t Do

  • Culture-As-Costume: It’s a hot topic right now and you’re better off steering clear of native or traditional outfits from other cultures (i.e think anything with a kimono or Native America outfits).
  • Thai Soccer Team: There’s a chance you’ll see someone in a soccer uniform and a scuba mask this year, but word to the wise it’s too soon and probably always will be. Stay away.
  • Anything With An Umbrella: There’s no loaded political reason for this – I just think umbrellas are clunky and an annoying thing to have to carry around all night. Do yourself a favor and don’t be a jelly fish, the Morton salt girl, or a cheeky play on “It’s raining men.”

I hope this guide helped you decide what to be for Halloween. Do you have any great costume ideas that should be included on this list? Let me know in the comments!

Hair Scarves Are The Best Thing That’s Happened To Fashion Since Off-The-Shoulder Tops

Hair Scarves Are The Best Thing That’s Happened To Fashion Since Off-The-Shoulder Tops

Hair scarves are the best thing that’s happened to fashion since off-the-shoulder tops. That’s right, you heard me. This hair scarf trend is where it’s at. I tried it on a whim and I’ve become an instant believer! Seriously guys, I don’t think I’ll feel right wearing a ponytail without a hair scarf anytime in the near future. I love how they can dress up your hairdo in a feminine, easy way, without giving off that childlike feel that traditional bows can have.

The best part about it is that if you know where to look, you can snag a bunch on the cheap. There’s no reason to pony up serious money for a scarf. Plus, most of the really expensive ones (I’m looking at you, Hermès) are silk aka not cruelty-free. If you’re shopping for hair scarves make sure the material is satin, not silk. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite satin options that are between $7-$30 to help stock your accessory drawer.

Have you tried the hair scarf trend? If so, tell me what you think in the comments below!

My Go-To Summer Outfit

My Go-To Summer Outfit

I don’t care what anyone says, I love floral patterns. It’s possible I love them a little too much. If I was the early 90s, there’s a 60-80% chance I would have a floral-pattern couch or drapes… or both. Once, in college, before I really started to understand fashion and what works, I wore a floral dress to a party and a guy told me I looked like a couch. My immediate reaction was a big non-sarcastic “Thank you!” It took me a solid couple of minute before I realized it was not a compliment.

Luckily for me, I grew into my fashion sense and can embrace my love for floral patterns in a stylish way. Privacy Please kills the game when it comes to feminine floral patterns. This Brisco Dress is one of my all-time favorites and a spring/summer go-to item the second it gets warm enough. It pairs perfectly with my round straw bag, which is cruelty-free! I can’t even begin to tell you how long I searched for a top notch, vegan straw bag. Most straw bags have got some sneaky leather somewhere on them, usually the straps, but not this one! Credit goes to Mama Kath for this one. AND it’s only $67 – what a steal.

What I Wore In Munich & Vienna: Full Outfit Details

While I’ve been to Europe before, this year I *finally* felt like I packed correctly. While I would take a few less items and do somethings differently, I basically wore everything in my suitcase without over wearing any one item, which is a massive packing WIN. I’ve done too many trips where I put clothing before being practical and it was a nightmare. So this time around, I was determined to bring a good mix of items, pack fabrics that were breathable and walkable, and wear flats. (For those of you who know me, this is a big deal since I’m almost always in 3-4 inch heels. But I found these adorable and cheap vegan flats and added them to my rotation.)
