Gift Guide for the Beauty Queen

Holiday Beauty Gift Guide for Women, Cruelty-free Makeup, Hair, and Cosmetic Products

I can’t believe how quickly time is flying! In only a week, I’ll be home in Baltimore celebrating Thanksgiving with the fam. With Black Friday on the heels of Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a few more gift ideas before the hustle and bustle begins, so I present my second holiday gift guide of the season tailored for Beauty Queens. I pushed up the timeline for this post because I’m giving away #16 to to one lucky winner, but the giveaway ends tonight at 7:59pm EST. See this post for details on how to enter.

As a side note, I had so much fun putting this gift guide together! I love finding and sharing items that are cruelty-free/vegan, but may or may not be marketed as such, and this beauty theme is perfect for that. I hope you enjoy reading it/exploring the items as much as I enjoyed making it.

An eyeshadow palette is an amazing gift for any beauty queen. I love this tartelette™ palette because mixes mattes and micro shimmers in universally flattering shades. Perfect for everyday use.

I’ve been raving about this Too Faced Matte Bronzer since I bought my first compact years ago. Turns out, Allure agrees and made it a Best of Beauty award winner.

This is the face oil you never knew you always needed. Trust me on this one.

These nail polishes are not only quick drying and full color, but they are free of the toxic chemicals you’d normally find in nail polish. I love this neutral blue holiday set.

Don’t think I can say it better than this reviewer: “The actual soap lasts a long time and lathers really well. Helps keep my skin clear and reduces my red acne scars. This is my holy grail when it comes to face soaps and I tell all of my friends and family about it.”

Tarte does cheek stains SO WELL. It’s brush-free application, so you just smile, dot and blend it – so easy!

So, I’ve never tried a microneedling but I’ve always been curious! This limited-edition set definitely has my eye.

Kat Von D is the QUEEN when it comes to eyeliner. Her tattoo liner makes doing cat eyes almost effortless.

Three things you need to know: 1. its most amazing lightweight hair spray, 2.  it’s cruelty-free, and 3. Aveda funds renewable wind energy to offset the Co2 associated with this product so it has a net-zero impact on the Earth’s climate.

I’ve had this styling wand for years and love love love it. The interchangeable barrels make it so easy to switch up styles. Lately, I’ve been loving the tapered barrel to get loose beachy waves.

This handcrafted, 100% natural coconut sugar lip scrub would make a perfect stocking stuffer!

Obsessed with this shower cap and hair towel set! I’m such a sucker for palm leaves.

This Pacifica Beauty Kale Detox Deep Cleansing Face Wash is super affordable and works wonders.

One of the reasons I started this blog is because I showing amazing products that are also undercover cruelty-free and vegan, and Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press heat protector is a prime example.

Couldn’t make a beauty gift guide without an adorable make up bag, now could I? I love this one is from Tuckernuck.

If you’ve been following along you know I totally love this M.O.T.D. vegan make up brush set because the brushes are super soft, don’t shed at all, hypoallergenic, and anti-bacterial (unlike regular animal hair brushes). I’m also giving away a set to one lucky winner. See this post for details on how to enter.

Let me know in the comments if there are other items that should be on this list!

Pick Of The Week: MOTD Makeup Brushes

POTW - motd brushes (1)As a category, makeup brushes tend to be the forgotten cousins of the fur industry. They are frequently made out of fur from They are commonly made out of fur/hair from mink, horse (look for it being called “pony” or “camel”), goat, and even squirrel. It’s pretty crazy.

But thankfully MOTD has these AMAZING makeup brushes. My sister got these for me over the holidays last year, and they are absolutely incredible. I cannot rave about them enough. First and foremost, this set is total quality – absolutely no shedding, ever. Plus these beauties are ridiculously soft, antibacterial (!), and perfect for blending. But I have to say, my favorite part about them is the style – I adore the rose gold and black combo. It’s super sleek and fun.

The essentials set is $75, which is a steal since a bronzer brush can run you anywhere in the $60-$80 at Sephora.

Pick of the Week: Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

POTW - toofaced

This week’s Pick Of The Week is my hands down favorite bronzer of all time: Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I stumbled upon this product years ago (probably around 10 years ago!) when I was desperately looking for a matte bronzer that didn’t have any orange tint or shimmer. It sounds like a simple ask, but it is oddly quite difficult to find. When I finally found the matte chocolate soleil I think I jumped for joy.

Since then, I’ve dabbled with a few other bronzers when I’ve run out and had to buy something quickly, but the others have never compared. I always come back to this one. It blends well and because it is made with real cocoa powder (what!) it smells just like chocolate. After all these years, I’m so happy it’s still on the market and I’m even more happy that it just so happens to be cruelty free!

It’s available at Sephora and retails for $30.00.

What is your favorite bronzer or Too Faced product? Tell me in the comments below!

Pick of the Week: Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 setting mist

POTW - Tarte

For this week’s Pick Of The Week, I’m going with Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 setting mist. I’m a big fan of the Tarte brand because: it has an insanely adorable mermaid theme (seriously, just look at the website!) and, of course, none of their products are ever tested on animals.

But don’t worry, to be the POTW it’s got to be more than pretty and cruelty-free. This setting mist is the holy grail of makeup. I’m in love with it because it works as a primer, makeup setting spray, hydrating mist, AND skin refresher all in one. In the winter, it keeps my skin moisturized when the air gets dry; and in the summer, it helps my makeup stay on during those hot humid days. (Side note: I usually don’t like multipurpose products. Items like 2-1 shampoo & conditioner confuse and annoy me …how can it be as good as a product solely dedicated to shampooing and a product solely dedicated to conditioning, you know? I don’t trust it.) That said, this setting mist is changing. my. views. Plus it’s vegan, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested, which I’m all about.

It’s $25 but it’s worth it. It’s available online and at Sephora.

Do you use this product too? If not, what setting mist would you recommend?
